Orthodontics
Orthodontics for Children
The national orthodontic foundation (AAO) and American Academy of Pediatricians recommend all children see an orthodontist by age 7. This is to ensure that the upper and lower jaws and all permanent teeth are developing in a normal pattern.
At age 7, most children’s teeth are developing normally, and this appointment becomes a good visit for pictures and a beginning x-ray. Our Orthodontist is very conservative and will only recommend interceptive treatment if your child has a problem that if left untreated could become worse.
Orthodontics for Adults
Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. One of every five patients in orthodontic treatment is over 21.
Thousands of adults are tired of having teeth that are wearing down, a bite that is not fitting properly or teeth that are difficult to floss. Orthodontics can help align teeth for bridges, crowns, and implants and give you that smile you have been waiting years for!
We can discretely align your teeth in as little as 6 months using invisible aligners or custom hidden braces behind your teeth!
Two Phase Treatment
Two-phase orthodontic treatment is a very specialized process that encompasses tooth straightening and physical, facial changes.
The major advantage of a two-phase treatment is to maximize the opportunity to accomplish the ideal healthy, functional, esthetic result that will remain stable throughout your life.
First Phase Interceptive Treatment starting from the age of 7 years old.
When treatment is begun early, the orthodontist can guide the growth of the jaw and guide incoming permanent teeth. Early treatment can also regulate the width of the upper and lower dental arches, gain space for permanent teeth, avoid the need for permanent tooth extractions, reduce likelihood of impacted permanent teeth, correct thumb-sucking, and eliminate abnormal swallowing or speech problems.
In other words, early treatment can simplify later treatment.
Second Phase Conventional Treatment from 12 years old onward.
The second phase is initiated when all or almost all of your permanent teeth have erupted, and usually requires braces on all the teeth for an average of 18-24 months.
The goal of the second phase is to make sure each tooth has an exact location in the mouth where it is in harmony with the lips, cheeks, tongue, and other teeth. When this equilibrium is established, the teeth will function together properly.
Orthodontics with Conventional Braces
Metal Braces are still the most popular type of braces. They produce the same high-quality results of other types of braces and can be personalized with colorful rubber bands.
Orthodontics with Clear Braces
Today’s braces are a lot different from the metal-mouth look of a generation ago. They’re more aesthetic and more efficient, and they’re more comfortable to wear and better at repositioning teeth. Adults, who make up one-fifth of orthodontic patients, also are opting for straighter teeth as more choices in orthodontic appliances become available.
Clear Ceramic Braces are extremely popular with adults and teenagers who want the great result of braces without the look of metal. Hollywood Smile Clinic offers the clearest ceramic braces on the market so you can have that bright, white, smile while your teeth are aligning.
Orthodontics with Invisible Braces
Making the decision for orthodontic treatment can be a difficult task. There are many options to consider.
Incognito™ Orthodontic Braces are a unique choice because patients can smile with confidence both during and after treatment. Placed on the back side of the teeth, Incognito Orthodontic Braces are completely hidden from view.
Incognito Orthodontic Braces are also 100% customized to meet the unique orthodontic prescription of every patient. Customization can lead to a more convenient and comfortable treatment experience.
Orthodontics with Invisalign
Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective.
You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position. You’ll visit Hollywood Smile Clinic about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.
Orthodontics with Self-ligating braces
There are many brands of frictionless braces such as The Damon System, Time, In-Ovation, and Smart Clip. All of these braces work the same in allowing very crowded cases to align faster than traditional braces. Using these braces in combination with highly flexible, space-age-technology wires, designed by NASA, can produce amazing results.
Damon braces are designed to be discreet, comfortable and easy to keep clean. Without the elastic ties which attract and collect plaque, Damon braces make dental hygiene easy during treatment.
